Custom automotive brackets, mounts & adapter plates

The part that holds the other part is usually the one nobody sells. Brackets, mounting plates and adapters designed around the space you actually have, and prepared for the process that will make them.

01

What a bracket actually has to solve

A bracket has two jobs: locate something precisely, and survive where it lives. That means the existing holes it bolts to, the clearance around it when suspension moves or a hood closes, hardware access for the wrench that has to tighten it, and the heat and vibration of its neighborhood.

Those constraints get worked out before geometry is drawn. It's the difference between a bracket that bolts on and one that needs to be relieved with a grinder.

02

Common jobs we model

Accessory relocation brackets, sensor and gauge mounts, ECU and electronics trays, catch-can and reservoir mounts, radiator and cooler mounts, camera and screen mounts, interior mounting hardware, and adapter plates that let a component with one bolt pattern land on a face that has another.

Also plenty of one-off shop work: a fabricator has the parts and the vehicle but wants a clean flat pattern and a drawing rather than cardboard templates.

03

Designed for how it will be made

Laser-cut and bent sheet metal is usually the cheapest route for a flat-ish bracket, you get a DXF flat pattern with the bend allowances already accounted for, plus a bend drawing. CNC billet aluminum suits brackets that need stiffness in three dimensions or a machined interface surface, and comes with a STEP file plus a dimensioned drawing.

Printed polymer is right for interior, low-load and non-heat-exposed mounts, and for the test-fit prototype of a metal part before you spend money cutting it.

04

Hardware, tolerances and fitment

Fastener sizes, clearance holes versus tapped holes, slot geometry for adjustment, edge distance, and stack-up between mating parts are all part of the model rather than an afterthought. Slots in particular are underrated: a few millimetres of designed-in adjustment absorbs the tolerance of the vehicle itself.

05

What you receive

An editable parametric model, STEP for the machine shop, DXF flat patterns where relevant, STL for printing, and a dimensioned PDF drawing calling out the critical interfaces. Files are yours, take them to any shop, or we can coordinate the manufacturing for you.

06

Where we draw the line

RPM Custom Design is a custom part design and 3D modeling studio, not an engineering firm. We don't provide load ratings, structural certification or stamped engineering documentation, and we won't take on brackets whose failure would be a safety issue without a qualified engineer involved on your side.

FAQ

Common questions

What do you need from me to start a bracket?
Photos of the area, the bolt pattern or hole locations, the component being mounted (or its dimensions), and a note about clearance. If you can send the mating part or a template, even better.
Can you work from a cardboard mockup?
Yes. A cardboard or plywood mockup that already fits the car is excellent input, we measure or scan it and turn it into a proper model.
Can I get just the DXF for my local laser shop?
Yes. Flat-pattern DXF with a bend drawing is a common deliverable on its own.
